Boys are obsessed with everything that rolls- and was I craving to see my son pick up some wheels and play. .
TADA…I came out with this simplest Car track hack
Print some track sheets & glued them together on a white sheet, forming curves, roundabouts & lines.
Trust me Mommies & Daddies – doing this DIY, is reliving your childhood too – stretching your creative box a tad bit more to make it real fun. *MAKE IT FUN* :
1. You can add :Redlights, Bridges ,Tunnels, Signs is Road Safety , etc.
2. You can also change habitats, add trees & water bodies , zoo or animals , or monuments..
3. You can make it a scavenger hunt for them.
4. You can also relate it to a theme for adding to their knowledge.
This is a great learning exercise for kids, as it develops hand-eye coordination & dexterity in both their hands to pick up, & track the paths ( motion- path tracking), plus REAL/ROLE, OPEN-ENDED IMAGINATIVE PLAY.
The child drops an object into the hole in the box, the object rolls out of the box into the tray or open space, giving the child experiences that the object did not disappear. They exist, even when they are not in their near vision.
LEVEL 2 – CLOSED LID/TRAY
The child now drops the object into the hole in the box, with the lid closed. He/ She now knows ( after level 1), that the object hasn’t disappeared. The child now keeps the image of the object in mind, for a longer period of time, while searching for it, which he/she eventually finds in the box/ drawer.
1,Introduce 1st with Colored Balls, so that the child can mimic the PALMER GRASP.
2 Level up with different objects such as coins, pins, sticks, etc. for PINCER GRASP.
Geoboards are square boards that have pegs to which attach rubber bands to form various shapes, images, and complex structures for a 2D interaction.
These boards are great for our kids to understand the change of shapes from a 3D~2D medium.
Geoboards can be used for multiple purposes and they can be used to recreate many different elements, such as:
Replication of Pictures
Symmetry/ Design Analysis
Area, Perimeter & Geometry
Multiplication & Fractions
Building Marble Maizes
You can start to experiment with Geoboards by the time your little one(s) are around one (1 year) or so. These will not only help your child with FINE MOTOR skills, but also help your child master his/her PINCER GRASP.

Today, we have come up with an amazing DIY HACK, to make your very own WOODEN STACKER at home. Alternatively, if you have one, read on to know how you can make it more interactive and engaging for your little one.
WHAT YOU NEED:
TOY WHEEL / THICK CARDBOARD CUTOUT
THREAD ROLL / CARDBOARD ROLLED CYLINDER
Start by sticking the Toy wheel & Thread roll with Glue Gun, and let it dry for 2 minutes. It is very important that your base is firm, not rocking/moving and glued strongly to the peg. Please ensure that your peg is neither too thick nor too narrow. If you are using thread roll, it should be slightly used, so that it’s not too thick, nor too weak.
ACTIVITY 1 – LARGE SIZE RINGS
ACTIVITY 2 – SMALL SIZE RINGS (we have used shaped teethers; we have also used rubber bands as second step of this Activity, to add an additional challenge PULL & PUT )
ACTIVITY 3- SPINDLING WITH IDENTICAL SIZE RINGS ( for this we have used our old wooden stacks, but you try this with napkin rings )
ACTIVITY 4- VARIED THICKNESS OF (we have used tapes)
ACTIVITY 5 – SPINDLING WITH VARYING GRADATION OF RINGS
ACTIVITY 6 – SPINDLING WITH VARYING GRADATION RINGS & DIFF COLOURS (we have also introduced an additional challenge of learning PRIMARY COLOURS- Red, Blue and Green )
